‘Sorry I Can’t Stay’ comes from the mind of La Faute, a Canadian artist who is releasing her debut album today. As with all of her intriguing work, this single blends genres effortlessly, with a mixture of dream pop and folk floating to the top of the sonic palette. At its core, this is a mysterious piano ballad that exposes La Faute’s voice and lyrics, with distant electric guitar countermelodies and synth strings guiding it toward a gentle climax. On the track’s accompanying music video, she says: “This song always makes me cry so I had to focus on the bright side to get through it. All I do is try to blow bubbles in the sunshine, gigantic and small, sometimes they work, sometimes they don't.
